Fear not, for we're here to demystify the language of CrossFit and empower you to conquer any workout with confidence. Let's unravel the mystery together!

WOD: The cornerstone of every CrossFit session, WOD stands for "Workout of the Day." It's the daily prescription of exercises, movements, and challenges carefully crafted by your coaches to push your limits and ignite your passion for fitness.

AMRAP: An acronym for "As Many Rounds (or Reps) as Possible," AMRAP workouts are a test of endurance and determination. Your goal is to complete as many rounds or repetitions of a specified set of exercises within a given time frame, pushing yourself to the limit with every rep.

EMOM: Short for "Every Minute on the Minute," EMOM workouts are a thrilling race against the clock. You'll perform a designated set of exercises or repetitions at the top of each minute, resting for the remainder of the minute before tackling the next round. It's a true test of speed, stamina, and consistency.

Rx: Derived from the medical term for "prescription," Rx signifies performing a workout exactly as prescribed, without any modifications or scaling. It's a badge of honor that demonstrates your ability to tackle the workout at the recommended intensity and difficulty level.

Scaling: Scaling involves modifying a workout to suit your current fitness level, abilities, or any physical limitations you may have. It's a vital component of CrossFit that ensures inclusivity and safety, allowing everyone to participate and progress at their own pace.

PR: Short for "Personal Record," PRs are the crown jewels of your fitness journey. Whether it's lifting a heavier weight, mastering a new skill, or completing a workout faster than ever before, PRs celebrate your individual achievements and milestones in the gym.

Metcon: A fusion of "metabolic conditioning," Metcon workouts are designed to elevate your heart rate and torch calories. These high-intensity sessions feature dynamic movements performed in rapid succession, pushing your limits and unlocking your full potential.

Chipper: Chipper workouts challenge you to chip away at a laundry list of exercises or repetitions, completing each one before moving on to the next. It's a grueling test of mental fortitude and physical endurance, requiring grit and determination to conquer each task.

Tabata: Named after Japanese researcher Dr. Izumi Tabata, Tabata workouts are a whirlwind of intensity and focus. They consist of short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by brief periods of rest, repeated for several rounds to maximize both aerobic and anaerobic fitness gains.

Mobility: Mobility is your body's passport to freedom of movement and flexibility. In CrossFit, mobility work plays a pivotal role in preventing injuries, enhancing performance, and optimizing movement quality, ensuring you can tackle any challenge with grace and precision.

RFT: "Rounds for Time" challenges you to complete a specified number of rounds of a workout as quickly as possible, testing both your speed and endurance.

1RM: "1 Repetition Maximum" refers to the maximum weight you can lift for a single repetition of a given exercise, serving as a benchmark for strength and progress.

Hang: Refers to starting a movement from a position where the bar is held above the knees but not yet at full extension, commonly seen in hang cleans and hang snatches.

Power: In weightlifting, "power" denotes performing a movement explosively, generating power from the hips and legs to propel the weight upward, as opposed to relying solely on momentum.

Percentages: When programming strength workouts, percentages are used to prescribe loads based on a percentage of your 1RM, ensuring optimal intensity and progression.

Armed with this newfound knowledge, you're ready to tackle any workout that comes your way. Embrace the challenge, celebrate your victories, and remember that every drop of sweat is a step closer to your goals. Here's to mastering the language of CrossFit and unleashing your full potential!
